BattleStar Galactica

All along the watchtowers

Okay, I’ve finished watching Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. WTF???! It’s a really good set of concluding episodes, but it gets really weird. I’ve never heard a Jimi Hendrix song in a sci-fi series before, let alone used as a plot hook!

I can’t wait until Season 4 is out – it’s supposed to be the last series and, as usual, bloody Sky will get it. I’ll get it on DVD next year or the year after I expect. Heroes is also out in DVD, so I’ll be getting that soon. When I can afford it, that is.

I’ve started to cut back a little on expenses – one of which is eating at the Royal Vet school. It’s pretty pricey there, and there’s no other local cafeterias – which is a pain. I’m making my own lunch and taking it in, or buying it cheaply from Tesco on the way in first thing.

I’m still not 100% well, and I’m probably going to have to go back to the Docs next week. I’m going to spend most of this weekend relaxing – I’m not going to ORC tomorrow, but will crack on with a lot of the other gaming stuff I need to do.

I’d like to replace my monitor with a 19″ LCD flatscreen, but I need to dispose of my CRT first. It’s a 19″ one too.

Something better change…

I’m still not well, and I’m pretty concerned – that’s over a week! I’ve an appointment at the Docs tomorrow, so hopefully they can shed some light on it or give me something. I’ve a very nasty feeling that this is something that may not be that easy to get rid of.

I didn’t get up to much at the weekend after an uncomfortable Saturday night – watched a couple of DVDs including Babylon 5: the Lost Tales (pretty good – I’ll write a review soon). Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica is something I’m halfway through – it’s pretty much a mirror to current events e.g. Leoben (the Cylon) sees an explosion: “Frakkin’ insurgents…”

I believe that Season 4 is likely to be the last one, but it’s been one hell of a journey. Some of the characters (and acting) have been exceptional (e.g. Tigh and Baltar). Tricia Helfer (as Caprica/Six) has also shown a huge range (NO! That’s NOT what you think I mean :) – read on!) of emotions from vulnerable victim to psychotic vamp.

Work has now settled into a routine now. One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how some very intelligent people can be so damn stupid… They seem incapable of planning anything.

Which bring me to my next topic. I think I’ve goofed slightly – I’m running a Mandragora RPG this weekend. I’m also trying to design Port Calachetta (the human settlement) and Kh’ashvorr (the LizardFolk city) for the ORC shared Dungeon and Dragons Campaign. As well as this, I’m scripting a Ghostbusters RPG one-off and the Necroscope mini-campaign. As Charlie Brown would say: AUUGH!

It burns, burns, burns…

That’s why I’m feeling ill(ish). I seem to be functioning perfectly well, then suddenly BAM! I’m out of the equation for an hour or so… Hope it clears up soon.

I’ve splashed out on Babylon 5: the Lost Tales and Battlestar Galactica: Season 3 - that’s my weekend taken care of now! Now that I’ve released the New World Explorers guide, I’m getting started on the next stage, participating in the planning of the first game. I’m really enjoying it. Seriously.

I played Shadowrun at ORC today – it’s come a long way since 1989 when it first came out. Although I was slightly confused by the system, I’m getting the hang of it. I’m a wage-mage basically.
