Ghostbusters
Somethin’ strange in the neighbourhood…
OK, I’ve finally written the outline for my Ghostbusters Halloween adventure. I just hope some of the players get the jokes. I’ve not done a humorous adventure for several years, so I may be a little rusty. No way am I making it like “Most Haunted”. There are going to be a lot of film references though. It’s a fairly simple premise. The Ghostbusters are called to TotalCon, a gaming convention held at the Poe Convention centre in Acacia Avenue, NYC. How many gaming cliches can I fit in one session? Well, I’ll see!
I’m having a hard time seeing how these damn trams are going to fit in Leith Walk, although it could be the new Islington, according to one of these property pieces of bumpf that comes around. A likely tale. The scaffolding is going to be around the flat another fortnight or so according to the workmen – the end is in sight! Another minor annoyance are these kids that are visiting the flat downstairs. They keep slamming the damn door.
I’ve also got a Red Hat Linux Administration course booked for January – the same time my probation ends. Doesn’t feel like 3 months in really. The course also has an exam, which I’ll guess I’ll take. Although exams and I don’t get on at the best of times…
It was a lost weekend…
Yep, it was one of those weekends. You know, where you have all this stuff planned? And then you can’t be bothered. That’s pretty much my weekend. I did get a little bit of stuff done for my Ghostbusters RPG game – not much though, but it’s a start. I watched a bunch of DVDs: John Carpenter’s Vampires again (it’s still crap), Constantine (including the bit right at the end, that I missed in the credits the first time), and King Kong.
I cleaned the flat windows yesterday – it doesn’t half make a difference to the quality of light, but because they’re the old fashioned sash windows, it’s a bugger to do the top pane.
I’m not feeling very much better, in fact I’m feeling worse today. I’m gonna have to go back to the docs I think. I hope it’s a virus and not IBS, but I’ve a nasty feeling it’s the latter…
Something better change…
I’m still not well, and I’m pretty concerned – that’s over a week! I’ve an appointment at the Docs tomorrow, so hopefully they can shed some light on it or give me something. I’ve a very nasty feeling that this is something that may not be that easy to get rid of.
I didn’t get up to much at the weekend after an uncomfortable Saturday night – watched a couple of DVDs including Babylon 5: the Lost Tales (pretty good – I’ll write a review soon). Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica is something I’m halfway through – it’s pretty much a mirror to current events e.g. Leoben (the Cylon) sees an explosion: “Frakkin’ insurgents…”
I believe that Season 4 is likely to be the last one, but it’s been one hell of a journey. Some of the characters (and acting) have been exceptional (e.g. Tigh and Baltar). Tricia Helfer (as Caprica/Six) has also shown a huge range (NO! That’s NOT what you think I mean
– read on!) of emotions from vulnerable victim to psychotic vamp.
Work has now settled into a routine now. One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how some very intelligent people can be so damn stupid… They seem incapable of planning anything.
Which bring me to my next topic. I think I’ve goofed slightly – I’m running a Mandragora RPG this weekend. I’m also trying to design Port Calachetta (the human settlement) and Kh’ashvorr (the LizardFolk city) for the ORC shared Dungeon and Dragons Campaign. As well as this, I’m scripting a Ghostbusters RPG one-off and the Necroscope mini-campaign. As Charlie Brown would say: AUUGH!
