Argh. Writing this at work where it’s back to normal once more! Reality hurts.
I’ve done very little over the Xmas break. New Year/Hogmanay was extremely quiet in Fife (although it was cool to get outta town!) – I was the only one able to stay up/capable to see the bells. Got woken up fairly early too on New Years day, but that was expected. It’s been relatively quiet on the social front over Xmas, although I caught up with a few friends on Saturday. Saturday night caught up with me yesterday
.
The website has changed significantly now. Everything is more or less up and running. Still need to change the Blog theme and navigation, but it’s nearly complete – the greyer backdrop should be easier on the eyes. I still need to tweak the Forums too, but I’ve been able to port most of the stuff over to Zikula and altered the theme to a Xanthia one. I’ve moved the Urban Predator fiction page to a PDF/MS reader file and converted the Necroscope dossier from the Necroscope Notes page to a manilla-folder style PDF. Both can be found in the Downloads area.
The Ashes of Freedom area of the Liber Mandraconiss wiki will be undergoing some serious expansion soon. I’ve some house rules to put in for D&D, plus some background info for clerics, and a revision of the spells system in 4th edition D&D.
Rolling, rolling
I’m currently in the throes of setting up a new gaming group, to run on Wednesday nights. I’d using my new Ashes of Freedom setting of Volkrania. As I’ve been working through the various ideas, I’ve realised that I’d forgotten how much I love creating settings and worlds. I’ve some great adventures lined up. Ashes of Freedom is going to run every two weeks with one of two different groups. Ultimately it’ll be in groups of 4, with a catchup at ORC every month. I figure 31/2 hours per session ought to be OK, but I’m still looking for a couple of players for my last group. I’ve become a pretty good GM I think over the years;, and although I may not be totally original, the games do have a unique flavour.
Participated in a Traveller (a sci-fi RPG) playtest adventure last week at ORC, organised by Richard Talbot of BITS UK (British Isles Traveller Support). Quite enjoyed it despite some flaws in the writing. Oh yeah, ran another e-branch adventure a fortnight ago. This was set in Rome, in 1994, with some Wamphyri ‘legacy’ – AKA a thing in the basement that ate the local mafiosi.
Other than that gaming stuff, life goes on. I’ve been doing a lot of stuff at work on a remote site set up at Easter Bush. I feel somewhat chuffed with the results -although it’s like drawing teeth trying to get a definitive answer from scientists when I need a decision on something. Par for the course there.
