Main Hoon Don

No, it’s not a character from Krod Mandoon. It’s the theme from the movie Don: The Chase Begins Again. Why I’m I quoting Bollywood movies? Well, I’m off to a Bollywood party tomorrow night, and I’m going as Shahrukh Khan A.K.A. SRK, and heres  the character he plays in Don and Don 2: The Chase Begins Again.

SRK in Don 2

Well, it’s an easy costume to create :) I’m pretty sure any tagged photos will find their way onto Facebook.

In a similar vein, it was Beltane last week, the pagan Ibiza. Meh. Not my thing. I’ve no interest in standing around a fire while semi-pissed folk prance around in paint and their DMs. They left a bit of a mess the following day – it didn’t look that impressive from the flat either during the night. At least the Edinburgh Mela burnt an effigy of the Demon King: that was impressive – very Wicker man! Edinburgh looks amazing at the moment, all the cherry trees are in bloom and there’s some amazing colours in town. I’m on leave during the second half of the month and I’m considering taking my camera out for a few photos around town. After I created a 2085 version of Edinburgh, I think it’d be cool.

I played the Alien and Marine missions of Aliens vs. Predator on the X-Box 360. I have to say I’m disappointed. Nowhere near as good as the original PC game. I completed the Alien missions in an afternoon, and the Marine one is near impossible. To put it bluntly: it is crap. It may look pretty, but the gameplay is awful. I suspect that multi-player is pretty naff too, although I’ve not tried it yet.

My Cthulhutech game was popular at ORC, so much so that I may run multiple instances of the same game. I’ve managed to make the games episodic: Mundanes, Tagers, Mecha. I think it’ll work OK for Second Chance Saturdays, as I’ve called it at ORC.

Well, it’s election day here in the UK. I’ve voted, for all my 0.583 share of the vote works. Yay. Although I think it’ll do F-all. Mind you, I did vote. More than the “populace” do these days, those that can  read anyway.

Urgh. Facebook. Love and loathe it. I’ve filtered out most of the *%$%^king  games now. I used to play Vampire Wars, then I realised that it is stupid and pointless. I moved on. I don’t really believe in the Facebook “petitions” either . I wonder how many people  actually did buy “Killing in the name of” at Xmas.

And finally, I’m enjoying the Star Trek: Voyager episodes with Barclay. He’s a geek hero. I’ve also got into Burn Notice – Bruce Campbell rocks, but Gabriella Anwar is scarily thin, and “Dude with a problem” actually made me laugh out loud.

They call me Mr Glass

Well, not really. I was more like Bruce Willis in Unbreakable. I’ve not had a broken bone by accident before (the surgery on my leg in the 80s I discount as it was done via the tibiostomy). However, with the concussion the other month and what happened a couple of weeks ago, I’m feeling somewhat fragile. I tripped backwards and fell back into the corner of a desk. I’ve cracked a rib, and it’s pretty painful. I’ve been taking painkillers and its mostly OK but sometimes it feels like every bus driver deliberately aims for the bumps some days. Apparently it’ll be four more weeks before I feel any better, according to the doctor. Oh joy.

I now own an X-Box 360 Elite too. I didn’t want a Wii (too cutesy), and I hate Sony (their PCs and laptops are a nightmare), so that left the XBox! I got it from Amazon, and I got a pretty good deal – I got an extra wireless controller, Lego Batman and Pure (unlikely to play that!) games, and BioShock 2 for a damn good sum! I’m hoping to get it all wired up tonight.

I’ve done some major work on the ORC website recently – the site now has a wiki! It was a bit of a faff to setup using the Joomla backend and MediaWiki but I’m happy with the results, and I’m pretty certain it will be well used. A large number of people are now coming to ORC, whether it’s due to my SEO or just one of those things, I’m quite happy about it!

Smaller and smaller

LOL! I don’t remember Darth Vader being 3 feet tall. I’ve just passed a group of kids dressed up for Halloween. The kid had gone beyond a simple mask and cape, he looked like the real deal! Except he’s only little: Mini-Vader, junior Sith!

I’m back at ORC and I’m taking more of an active role in the community. Attendance has fallen off somewhat, and there appear to be a number of personality clashes going on. I intend to rise above that. I ran Dark Heresy – I really enjoyed running part 2 of my Shadow on the Warp game, involving Tyranid invaders and members of the Imperial Guard. For Halloween, I’m running a D&D game called “This Old House” – involving an old house on a hill… No clichés there!

God, Chevy Chase looks awful. Just seen a clip of him in a trailer for “Chuck”, he really hasn’t worn very well! I’ve also been watching season 2 of Sanctuary on Monday nights. It’s a lot better than a lot of the stuff on TV these days, and has some decent characters to boot (although most of the cast are from Stargate SG-1 or Stargate: Atlantis).

It looks like many of the cast will be in the webisodes of the steampunk Riese series too. I don’t like this steampunk craze. The new film 9 looks like it has been inspired by steampunk (Tim Burton is involved so it likely is! War of the Worlds done by another Burton!). Although I like the Thief game, which really is of that genre, I don’t think it has any place in, say, a Vampire: the Masquerade game. It’s a fad. Shalebridge cradle (from Thief: Deadly Shadows) is still well creepy though!

One thing I can’t understand is why so many blokes are wearing shorts at the moment. Did I miss something – it’s bloody cold and Autumn isn’t it?
